Let’s make cities for people

Bolt is a ride-hailing, mobility and transport app with over 150 million customers in 45 countries and 500 cities across Europe and Africa. Their aim is to accelerate the transition from private cars to shared mobility, offering better alternatives for every use case, including ride-hailing, shared cars, scooters and e-bikes, as well as food and grocery delivery. Their latest project asks: “How can we make our cities better places to live? And how can shared mobility help?”

To tackle these questions, they assembled a team of the “world’s leading imagination experts”. Ranging from 5 to 13 years old, the team is known as the Little Big Think Tank.

The team of 37 imagination experts shared their visions of the perfect city with urban planner Lior Steinberg who “connected the dots between imagination and reality — proving that everything is possible.”

The outputs of the collaboration?

The Little Big Playmat

Everyone is familiar with playmats from when we were younger depicting houses, amenities and lots and lots of roads with little to no green spaces or footpaths. The Little Big Think Tank set out to fix this.

“Instead of highways and parking lots, The Little Big Playmat features shared mobility hubs, protected cycle lanes, pedestrian infrastructure, and a whole lot of greenery.”

You can check out a full interactive version of the mat here: https://littlebigthinktank.com/#playmat

Images of the playmat

This mat is open source meaning anyone can produce it (including IKEA who had a cleverly designed sign parked in front of one of their stores).

The Little Big Blueprints

Described as “The world’s first book written by kids, but made for adults.”
